From the archive: Forum Looks at Criminal Justice Reform and Role of Faith Communities

About ten years ago, we collaborated with the Skidmore College Project on Restorative Justice to put on a forum on criminal justice reform and the role of faith communities in the Bethesda Episcopal Church in Saratoga Springs, New York.. It brought people together to talk about what a more humane system could look like and what responsibility communities have in making that real. There was a focus on restorative justice and the barriers people face after incarceration, but more than anything it was a space for an honest, grounded conversation.

Looking back, the discussion still feels current. The same questions are still with us, and a lot of the challenges haven’t gone away. If anything, it shows how long this work has been going on and how much it still depends on people coming together and pushing for something better.
