Author, activist join Saratoga Springs to seek state grant for first-of-its-kind affordable condos

Our founder, Frank Zarro, was featured in this Times Union story about the planned affordable condominium project at the remediated 53 Putnam Street brownfield in Saratoga Springs, where Society Impact has been engaged in cleanup and redevelopment work. For more information about this project, see our recent write up about it.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — A remediated brownfield across the street from the city’s public library could be the next property on which affordable housing will rise.

The site of a former dry cleaner, 53 Putnam St., has been cleared and readied for development by Putnam Resources LLC, for a proposed five-story, 26,500 square-foot condominium complex. One of the men behind the LLC, author and editor Jason Letts, said the plan is to sell half of the complex's 30 to 40 units below market rate.
